Baptism - Ayesha Gabrielle Villaruel

Gaby is the first cousin of Al, whose baptism we also covered a few weeks back. They were baptized in the same church (Our Lady of EDSA Shrine).

But unlike Al’s baptism where we were allowed to stay in the baptistry area, this time we had to take shots from the adjacent chapel. It didn’t help that people started crowding the area [ excited for Gaby :) ]. It was a challenge but we were able to capture these moments:

The reception was held at Endramada Events Venue in Mandaluyong. It was a simple but intimate celebration attended by family and friends.

Baptism - Al Francis Butel

We’ve been behind in our postings so we decided to post events in 2009 and catch up one by one on our coverage in the last quarter of 2008. Al Francis is first on our list. :)

This was our first time to cover a baptism at the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace (more commonly referred to as Our Lady of EDSA Shrine).  There’s a small chapel adjacent to the baptistry where these photos were taken.

We had to squeeze ourselves in the crowd to get these shots.

Al probably loves cake (who doesn't?), so his parents got him two...

Now, this is really cute. Instead of the usual signature book, each guest had to affix their thumb mark (using blue ink for the males and pink ink for the females) on this plate. It will be heated inside an oven for some artistic retouch.

Al is one happy baby.

Sweet.

Oh, and check this out. Al Francis dozed off during the reception. The guests wanted a photo with him so they woke him up…

...uhm, almost...

Child Dedication - Rofel Senen FariƱas

IMG_9333

Sochi…a very unique nickname.

Sochi’s real name is Rofel Senen – Rofel is from Rommel & Ulyfel [these unique names must be genetic :)], culled from the names of his parents, and Senen is a second name of his grandfather and a biblical name meaning “Gift from God.” (thanks to the signature book where this info was taken from. Hehe).

…and his nickname? Well, Uly said it came a mobile phone ring tone which Sochi always listened to while in his mommy’s tummy :)

I found my first coverage of a Day of Dedication very meaningful. During the ceremony, each of the godparents said a prayer for Sochi and in one part, the pastor held the baby to give God’s blessing while everybody else stretched out their arms and prayed over him.

She probably does kiddie events coverage too. Do you accept apprentices? ;-)

It was a simple celebration to welcome Sochi into God's family. Thanks to Uly & Mel for the opportunity to cover this memorable event :)

Baptism - Samuel Alejandro Dacio

PRT-7044

Talk about coming full circle…

Lyra and I are both members of n@w – she, the more frequent poster and I the more frequent lurker. Picking up from her recommendations of friends Kix Tavora and Ging Lorenzo in one her posts, my husband Jon & I booked them on separate family events - Kix for Franco's baptism and Ging for his 1st birthday. Having become friends, Ging and I eventually got to cover a few kiddie parties and weddings together.

Inevitably, Lyra and I met at Ging's birthday celebration and she ended up engaging me for Sam's christening. My photographer-partner Warren joined the coverage. Here are some of the shots we took.

Wedding - Cholo & Gina

Cholo & Gina were one of the w@w couples we did free pre-nup sessions with before they asked us to be their backup photographers.

During her preps, Gina was very composed.

Eddie Bruan made her every inch a radiant bride.

The ceremony was held at the Christ the King Parish Church.

Gina wanted a specific shot taken during her bridal march. When we got to the church, we saw overhead lights above the center aisle and we thought timing was important.

This was the bride's request.

At the start of the reception, the couple entertained their guests with their first sweet dance.

One of the elderly guests wanted to pin a bill on Cholo's barong just when the music was about to segue into their hip-hop number (like the CD was being "scratched"). Ay lola, mamaya pa po. May script pala. May hip-hop number pa :) It was one fun wedding.

Some shots from the preps.
